Releases

  • Bee Version 2.8.3 Release Announcement

Bee v2.8.3 is now available. It includes security fixes, and all node operators should upgrade as soon as possible. It also lets operators pause redistribution without a restart, fixes a bug that could silently stop uploads, and makes reserve sampling much lighter on memory.

  • Bee Version 2.8.2 Release Announcement

Bee v2.8.2 is a security-hardening release, focused on keeping nodes running when the data they receive is not what it claims to be. It is available now, and every node operator should upgrade.

    Development updates

  • Bee Version 2.8.1 Release Announcement

Bee v2.8.1 is a non-disruptive release focused on performance, data durability, and developer experience, with some operational cleanup. It brings faster chunk hashing, crash-safe local storage, reduced blockchain RPC traffic, and a step toward browser-based uploads.

Monthly development update

What moved across the protocol, research, tooling and the ecosystem. The summary changes every month, so it earns a line.

  • September 2026September brought work on faster syncing, greater operator control and reliability as the Bee team prepared the next release. Research set a firm direction for moving stamp handling to Ethereum, while SDK and app updates improved feeds, file management and video streaming.
  • August 2026August was a month of hardening the foundations while pushing more of Swarm into practical use: Bee 2.8.2 strengthened node resilience and security, Bee-JS 13 and the new Core SDK brought Swarm primitives out of the node and into applications, and for the first time the Swarm Community Call was streamed live over Swarm.
  • July 2026July saw Swarm development return to its regular pace after the Bee v2.8.1 stabilization release, with work advancing across the protocol, research, developer tooling, applications, and the wider ecosystem.
  • June 2026June was a month of steady, practical progress across the Swarm stack: Bee v2.8.1 was locked in and announced for July 7, Swarm-CLI v3.3.0 redesigned ACT access control, Bee Factory and Gateway kept maturing as developer infrastructure, and Swarm spent a full week at Berlin Blockchain Week...
  • May 2026May was a month of hardening, cleanup, and practical progress across the Swarm stack: Bee v2.8.0 shipped as a targeted security release, research moved closer to publishing the tokenomics roadmap, and tooling across Bee-JS, Swarm-CLI, Gateway, and Bee Factory saw usability updates...
