Community call
The monthly call, written up — what shipped, what was shown, what was asked.
- 24 SeptemberSeptember’s Swarm Community Call showed work moving from proposition into practice: Bee’s first PubSub implementation, a published paper on deletable content in immutable storage, SwarmID used by 14 projects at ETHRome, and a working demo of AI agents discovering data, paying for access and building verifiable reputation on Swarm.
- 27 AugustAugust’s Swarm Community Call was streamed over Swarm itself for the first time. The call covered the security-focused Bee 2.8.2 release and the hardening work that follows it, introduced Etherchunk — a practical approach to reclaiming storage capacity on immutable storage — and took a close look at the streaming system that was delivering the broadcast, including a parallel test of an in-browser Swarm node.
- 30 JulyJuly’s Swarm Community Call covered the protocol work following Bee 2.8.1 — Hive peer discovery, PullSync hardening, simulation tooling and backward compatibility between versions — a research reprioritization toward network usability, and a community talk introducing Vertex, an independent Rust implementation of a Swarm node.
- 25 JuneJune's Swarm Community Call covered the upcoming non-breaking Bee 2.8.1 release in final testing, and an extended field report from Berlin Blockchain Week — talks, panels, The Plural Monolith livecoding installation, a Subcult demo, and DeSci conversations.
- 28 MayMay’s Swarm Community Call covered a breaking Bee 2.8.0 release requiring urgent operator upgrades, a research update on the next wave of protocol work, two Swarm Hackweek follow-ups, and a full EthPrague + hackathon report with bounty winners.
- 30 AprilApril’s Swarm Community Call was intentionally different: rather than the usual monthly segment rotation, the call served as a high-level report-out from the Swarm Accelerator Hackweek in Budapest...
- 26 MarchMarch’s Swarm Community Call widened the lens beyond pure client updates: we introduced Koss as Swarm’s new Community Lead, shared a short preview of upcoming workshops and conference presence**, then moved into the Bee 2.7.1 patch release debrief...
- 26 FebruaryFebruary’s Swarm Community Call focused on three areas: a look back at the Bee 2.7 release and what comes next, a walkthrough of the new “Building on Swarm” developer guides, and a forward-looking community talk on identity management.
- JanuaryThe first Swarm Community Call of 2026 focused on what’s shipping next in Bee 2.7, what the Research track is stabilizing at the protocol level, and two concrete ecosystem integrations...
- December - Solstice EditionThe Solstice edition of the Swarm Community Call offered a thorough overview of the past half year, and if there was a single meta-theme, it was this: Swarm is trying to make decentralization feel less like a ceremony and more like a default.
- 27 NovemberAfter opening with core development updates, the November Swarm Community Call focused on the fresh impressions from Devconnect Buenos Aires and a deep dive into Swarmonomics.
- 30 OctoberThe October Swarm Community Call delivered major updates on Bee v2.7, Devconnect plans, a live launch of Beeport, and a look at how AI can assist you in exploring and developing on top of Swarm.
